Terms of Service

1. Agreement
By accessing or using the carsage developer portal, VIN decode API, documentation, or related services ("Services"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Use of the API
You may use the carsage API according to your prepaid token balance, published rate limits, and our documentation. Keep API keys confidential; you are responsible for activity under your organization. Do not use the Services for illegal purposes, to scrape or overload our systems, to resell raw data in violation of applicable law, or to circumvent billing or entitlements. We may suspend access that threatens platform stability or security.
3. Payment & prepaid tokens
Self-serve monetization is prepaid token packs purchased via Stripe. Pack prices and token amounts are listed on the pricing page. Tokens debit on successful billable requests (for example VIN Decode Lite or Full). Invalid VINs are not charged when our systems classify the request as non-billable. Unused prepaid credits expire twelve months after purchase unless a custom agreement states otherwise. Refunds, if any, follow the policy communicated at checkout.
4. Intellectual Property
The Services, documentation, branding, and underlying models or datasets remain owned by carsage or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to call the API and display results in your applications. You retain ownership of your software and customer data. You may not reverse engineer the API beyond ordinary interoperability permitted by law.
5. Data accuracy disclaimer
Vehicle data may come from multiple sources and can be incomplete or outdated for some VINs. The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are responsible for how you use decode results in regulated workflows (insurance, lending, compliance).
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, carsage is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data arising from use of the Services. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Services is limited to the amounts you paid us for prepaid tokens in the twelve months before the claim.
7. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for Terms violations, non-payment, or risk to the platform, with notice when reasonable. Upon termination, API access ends; we may retain records as described in the Privacy Policy.
